TSMC Taiwan’s 3-nanometer factory to mass produce next year
According to CNA, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) said that the construction of its 3nm (nanometer) factory is expected to achieve mass production in the second half of 2022.
TSMC did not confirm industry rumors that the installation of a 3-nanometer chip factory in Taiwan's Southern Science Park has already begun, but reiterated that the installation process is on schedule.
TSMC said that in the 5-nanometer chip installation phase of Fab 18, the first, second and third phases have already started production, while the fourth phase is still under construction. Phases 5, 6, 7 and 8 of Fab 18 will be used to manufacture 3-nanometer chips.
A TSMC spokesperson said that regardless of market rumors, the company will start trial production this year and achieve mass production in the second half of this year.
Regarding the gas supply pollution at the Tainan plant, TSMC stated that it has completed the follow-up operations and has no major impact on operations and products.
